Instructions for Downloading Videos
On our web pages, go to the video you want to save for posterity. At the bottom right-hand side of the video window, there is a little arrow that points up. Click on it. Then click on the little TV screen thingy that will rise up. It's asking you if you want to make the video smaller. Click it, and lo and behold, the video gets smaller. Good. But it also added some important information. On the right hand side of the video screen there is a box labelled URL. This the address for where the video lives out there on the web. You need that address. Highlight it, right-click it, and hit copy.
Now go to Zamzar. That's the link right there. Once in Zamzar, start at step 1, and where it says "Select files or URL," - where URL is in blue - click on URL, and then paste the address you took from our video into the box. Now go to step 2, and choose a format that you want. There are many to choose from, but most of us are Windows folks, so go with wmv. Just scroll through the list until wmv shows up. Now enter your email address to complete step 3, and finally click "Convert."
That's it. You've grabbed the video. Now you just have to download it.
The file is actually getting ready to download for you, and when it's done you will get an email message from Zamzar saying the file is ready to be saved to your computer. There will be a link to click in that email (it's big and blue, right under the blue advertising box) to download the video. You only have 24 hours to get it, as Zamzar will not store your video until you feel ready to get off your butt and go get it. It usually takes about 10 minutes for Zamzar to grab your video. It's another 20 mins or so to download it.
If that feels like a bit much for you, let me know by emailing me ([email protected]), let me know what videos you want, and I'll cut you a disk. But do give this a try first - it's terribly easy. Do it once, and you'll have it down.

Instructions for Recording Streaming Audio
Posted November 8, 2010
First, you need a program that can record streaming audio. Here's one: free MP3 recorder.
Once you've downloaded the little program , and installed it, open it up and run it (it'll be under 'F' for "Free MP3 Sound Recorder" on your program list...)
Click on "file." Then "new" on the tiny little menu.
In the window that opens, ensure the box for "Stereo Mix" is checked, and un-check anything else.
Now adjust the recording level. On my machine it's at about 20% or so, but you might have to experiment a bit to figure out what works best for you.
Click "continue."
In the next window, under the Format column choose MP3. (This window here is a bonus, as you have many options of format.)
Click "continue."
In the next window, give the music file a name, and choose where you want to save it.
Click "Save."
Click "No" when it asks if you want to start recording now.
Now return your browser to our music page. I make the window for our website small, so I can see our page and also the MP3 sound recorder. Click on the play bar for the tunes you want Calum to play, and then click the little red record button on the sound recorder. You are now recording.
When done, click stop, and use your favourite music program to listen to the file you saved.
