Generally, our band aims to be self-sufficient. Through competition prize-money, parade and corporate events, community support (practice locations) and grants, our band has continued to operate successfully through the years as a registered not-for-profit organization.
Our band members donate their time to practice and rehearsals, as well as their talent and experience to teaching new players who are interested in getting involved. Apart from the enjoyment and pleasure we derive from making music, no members in the band receive a wage.
We are very fortunate that many items can be used over and again with new members, such as uniforms (a new kilt and sporran is close to $1000 each), drone cords and bag covers, the actual drums themselves, and the beautiful matched set of band chanters that we have. Unfortunately, we do need to replace them occasionally - tassels fall off the cords, bags fade and tear, and drum heads need replacing after being hit too many times - and these incur some of the band's yearly expenses.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in donating to help keep the band running, please reach out to us. Any amount helps to keep us on the road and bringing the joys Celtic music to a whole new generation of players AND listeners!
We would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support to keep music going through the 2022-2023 season!
